Job Description

Position: Community Outreach Assistant (Chinese & English Bilingual)
Status: Non-exempt, Part-Time
Reports to: Community Outreach Manager

The Korean American Family Service Center, Inc. (KAFSC) is a leading non-profit organization assisting women, children, and families in the New York tri-state area in recognizing and eliminating relationship violence and abuse. Our counseling, education, advocacy, and support services help individuals empower themselves to build safe and healthy relationships based on mutual respect, compassion, and dignity. Each year, over 3,000 individuals benefit from one or more services that we provide. All our services are culturally sensitive, linguistically appropriate, and free.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct community needs assessments to identify gaps in services through activities such as tabling, canvassing, and door-knocking.
  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to support community engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborate across different programs and stay informed of deliverables, timelines, and deadlines.
  • Support and help coordinate key annual events—such as Marches, Rallies, and Events —that advance the mission of the organization.
  • Maintain and update communication calendars, deliverables and outreach databases (e.g., Salesforce, Google Drive, etc.).
  • Collaborate with internal teams and departments to ensure outreach strategies align with organizational goals.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as record-keeping, reimbursement processing, and check requests.
  • Prepare, pack, seal, and transport outreach and promotional materials for events.
  • Handle physically demanding activities, including pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting outreach materials.
  • Provide direct support to community members by connecting them with essential resources such as housing, healthcare, and legal assistance.
  • erform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduation or equivalent and at least one year of experience in activities related to the duties described above.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, writing and computer skills.
  • Experience with data management and reporting.
  • Understanding of New York City’s diversity and experience working with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office software with an emphasis on Excel, Word, and Gmail.
  • Flexibility to work after 5pm and weekends.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken [English and Chinese]
  • Ability to travel within New York City

COMPENSATION

  • Up to 25 hours/week; $20/hourly
